Pulling Together for a Cause
The World’s Largest Fire Truck Pull is back in Duncanville, Texas, scheduled for Saturday, May 31. This exciting community event, hosted by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Duncanville Police Department, celebrates its 16th anniversary at Armstrong Park/Kidsville Park, and aims to support Special Olympics Texas. Come witness teams compete in a fun tug of war against a fire truck to benefit athletes with intellectual disabilities.
A Family-Friendly Competition
Participants can engage in a spirited contest that includes four specific categories for prizes: Fastest Public Safety Team, Fastest Civilian Team, Fastest Youth Team, and Fastest Financial Institution. A team requires exactly twelve members—of which at least six must be first responders to qualify as a public safety team—ensuring a diverse mix of competitors. Registration opens at 9 a.m., with the pull beginning shortly after at 10:15 a.m.
Why Special Olympics Matters
This event is not only fun but deeply meaningful, as it serves as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a grassroots initiative that raises funds and awareness for the Special Olympics. This global organization reaches over five million participants and emphasizes the importance of inclusive sports. By participating in the Fire Truck Pull, the community comes together to empower these athletes and advocate for equal opportunities.
